Hey there! First of all, I'm sorry it has been way too long since I've last written something on this blog. There is so much happening right now and since Ive only got a couple of weeks left, I try to enjoy every minute that I've got.
I probably won't write everything in chronological order but at least I write it.
About 4 weeks ago I finished my first self made hoodie in fashion and design. I'm not gonna post a picture because its too much effort but I'll show you as soon as I'm back.
On queens birthday weekend I went to the centre of new yaland with some friends and just hang out. Afterwards, we went to a cute little restaurant to have dinner and it was aaaaawesome! The centre of new Zealand is I little hill or mountain, whatever, and its pretty close to nelson. I spent The actual queens birthday holiday in golden bay with my family. First of all, we had to drive over Takaka hill and it was not fun. There are a hell of many curves and it goes up and down and up and down and up and down again. At the top, we realised that it's gonna go downhill now... anyway, survived it!
Then we arrived at the pupu springs, those are huge springs with fresh water. I think mike said something about the biggest in the southern hemisphere or so... don't know but they're huge. I'll probably do a second post with only pictures, so you can see it . After the pupu springs we went to Farewell Spit, Christopher Columbus called it Farewell Spit because it was the spit he'd left New Zealand from. It is also the northernmost point on the south island. It is awesome to stand on top of the hill and see a huge piece of land going into the sea. Its probably the wrong explanation but anyway, you know what I mean by seeing the pictures. After this one, we went to an awesome beach with some huuuuge rocks just standing in the water. I guess it is one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen in New Zealand. On the way back home, Mike showed me Colingwood, where he grew up and then we went home.
On the next weekend, I had to sit my Cambridge exam so I didn't do lots...
The following week therefore was very exciting. We went on our winter camp to Kahurangi National Park. We were supposed to leave nelson on Wednesday, but due to the bad weather we left on Thursday. I think it was a good decision because we would've stayed in shelters during a little storm and heavy rainfall. I think everyone enjoyed a day in school without books and in comfortable polypro. On Thursday we left at 8am to have an one and a half hour drive to Kahurangi. The last piece of the way we couldn't stay in our van because it was a slippery dirt road, so my group had to get picked up by the other van. Finally arrived up there we started an 6 hour walk. The ground was very slippery so I reckon it was a great decision not to go there one day earlier. On the way, we passed a few little waterfalls. You can always just drink the water from all the rivers and it tastes delicious. We passed a few little shelters where we had lunch and finally arrived at dry rock shelter. I didn't want to stay there, because I just wanted to be able to go somewhere in case it starts raining. That's why we went to Salisbury Lodge which is about another 800meters. When we arrived over there, it had get dark so we had to walk with head torches. We had tea in the lodge but we slept outside under a shelter. I have never had such an uncomfortable night before. Anyway, it was a nice adventure. On the second day, we got up at 6 to have breakfast and be ready to start hiking at about 7.30ish. Everyone could decide between three different ways to get to the vans. The easy way was only the same way back, the second one was up Gordon's pyramid and then back to the track, the third one was up Gordon's pyramid, down, up another mountain, down, up, down and as a final up Mount Arthur, where the snow was. I took the second one, because I was tired as and I just didn't want to do the hardest one. Going up there was horrible, it was not only hiking, but climbing and all of that with a very heavy backpack is exhausting but fun. The view from up there was stunning. I have never seen something like that. It was just amazing, we could see the whole national park and we could even see Nelson. Up there, we had a first lunch und walked back down. This was my favourite part. Sometimes we had to slide down somewhere on our bum. I have never loved hiking trousers more in my whole life. We were a small group with the best outdoor ed instructor on earth. On the way back, we found an old gold mine and walked in there. After like 20 meters walking through the water on the railway, there were bigbigbig spiders, so we turned around and walked back. For the second lunch, Lisa, our instructor cooked tea for us and we were just sitting on the way next to a waterfall. The last part was very exhausting because we had to walk uphill for like 2 hours and my feet hurt so much. Although it was very fun and we were the first group to be at the vans. When I arrived at home, Carolyn looked at me and started laughing and she just said I couldn't go to the ball like that, because my thighs were sooo sore, but I made it!
On Saturday, I went to Nina's, because her mothers friend is a hairdresser and she used to be a make up artist. So we got ready together and I the evening begun. Laura's friend had a pre ball where she took me. The actual ball had the theme "a night in central park". The first hour we basically only took photos. It was very different to every other ball we know. The band was not too good but it was a really nice evening. The after ball was declined because the girl's parents found that there were too many people, so we went to a friends house. On Sunday, we went to town to watch "the fault in our stars". Watch it, it's awesome but sad as!
I guess, I'm gonna make a break now, please excuse any mistakes, I won't correct it now because i'll go to a friends now. This is at least something.
